Alocasia azlanii Variegata is an exceptionally rare and highly prized jewel Alocasia admired for its dramatic contrast and rich coloration. Native to the rainforests of Borneo this species is known for its deep metallic purple to dark green leaves with iridescent undertones and bold veining. In its variegated form the dark glossy foliage is broken by irregular marbling and splashes of cream pale yellow or light green creating a striking high contrast appearance. Each plant is completely unique and represents a true collector specimen due to the extreme rarity and instability of its variegation.

Because of its slow growth and high sensitivity this plant is considered an advanced level species and performs best in carefully controlled indoor environments with stable conditions.

Care guide

Light
Bright indirect light. Provide strong filtered light to support healthy growth and maintain variegation. Avoid direct sun which can damage the leaves.

High Humidity
Very high humidity is essential preferably above seventy percent. Consistent humidity helps prevent stress and leaf deformation.

Soil
Light chunky soil mix. Use an extremely airy and well draining aroid substrate to protect the roots and avoid compaction.

Watering
Keep evenly moist. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings while avoiding complete drying.

Temperature
Keep it warm between twenty and thirty degrees Celsius or sixty eight to eighty six degrees Fahrenheit. Protect from drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Fertilizer
Light regular feeding during the growing season supports steady but slow growth. Use a balanced fertilizer at low strength.

Compact upright growth with no climbing behavior. This plant is highly sensitive to stress low humidity and inconsistent care. Stable conditions minimal handling and a consistent routine are crucial for long term success.
