Rescue your lawn from leatherjackets! 🌱 Nematodes (Steinernema carpocapsae/feltiae) tackle the root-munching larvae of the crane fly (Tipula paludosa) that leave bare, yellowing patches in the grass.

How it works

Each female crane fly lays 300–400 eggs in the lawn in late summer; the hatching larvae then feed on grass roots and overwinter, with damage often showing the following spring. Watered onto the grass, the microscopic nematodes seek out the young larvae, infect them with bacteria that kill them, and multiply inside before hunting more.

How to use

For outdoor use. Plan the first treatment about 2–3 weeks after you see adult crane flies swarming over the lawn (usually August/September) to catch the small, newly hatched larvae. Dissolve in water and apply immediately, keeping the soil moist for at least two weeks. Best at soil temperatures above 12 °C; apply early morning, evening or on a cloudy day, as nematodes are UV-sensitive.

Good to know: 50 million nematodes — covers approximately 50–100 m².
