Sobre
Alocasia heterophylla 'Dragon’s Breath' is a rare and dramatic tropical plant known for its bold, arrow-shaped leaves with striking silvery tones and deep green veins. What sets this variety apart is its almost metallic sheen and sculptural texture, which give the foliage a mysterious, fire-breathing dragon-like presence—hence the name. The plant’s upright growth and elegant leaf form make it a standout piece in any indoor plant collection.
Native to the Philippines, this variety stays relatively compact and is well-suited for both tabletops and floor displays in bright, humid environments. A must-have for rare plant enthusiasts and those looking to bring something otherworldly into their space.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. It can handle some morning sun but should be protected from harsh afternoon rays. Too little light may result in slower growth and duller coloration.
Watering
Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering or poor drainage can lead to root rot.
Temperature & Humidity
Thrives in warm conditions (20–28°C / 68–82°F) and high humidity (60% or more). Dry indoor air can lead to browning edges, so a humidifier or humidity tray may be helpful.
Soil
Use a well-draining aroid mix—combining coco coir or peat with perlite and orchid bark works well. The goal is moisture retention without waterlogging.
Fertilizing
Feed every 4–6 weeks in the growing season (spring through early fall) using a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce or stop feeding in winter.
Pruning & Maintenance
Trim off yellow or damaged leaves to maintain appearance. As with other Alocasias, this variety may go semi-dormant during colder months—reduce watering and resume care when new growth appears.
Pests
Keep an eye out for spider mites, aphids, or mealybugs. Regularly wiping leaves and maintaining high humidity helps prevent infestations.
