Alocasia Metallic Blue Aurea is a rare cultivated form within the Alocasia cuprea group, a jewel Alocasia native to Borneo. The plant is admired for its thick glossy leaves with an intense metallic blue to steel toned sheen and pronounced veining. In the Aurea form the reflective foliage is accented by warm golden yellow variegation that appears as marbling and soft patches across the leaf surface. The combination of cool metallic tones and luminous gold creates a striking and highly refined contrast. Each leaf develops unique patterns making this plant a prized collector specimen.

Due to the instability of aurea variegation and the naturally slow growth associated with metallic leaf types this plant performs best in controlled indoor environments with stable conditions.

Care guide

Light
Bright indirect light. Provide strong filtered light to support healthy growth and maintain both metallic coloration and aurea variegation. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the lighter areas of the leaves.

High Humidity
High to very high humidity is recommended ideally above sixty five percent. Consistent humidity helps preserve leaf texture and reduces stress.

Soil
Light chunky soil mix. Use an airy and well draining aroid substrate to protect the roots and prevent compaction.

Watering
Keep evenly moist. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or remain waterlogged.

Temperature
Keep it warm between twenty and twenty eight degrees Celsius or sixty eight to eighty two degrees Fahrenheit. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Fertilizer
Light regular feeding during the growing season supports slow steady growth. Use a balanced fertilizer at low strength.

Growth habit and additional care
Compact upright growth with no climbing behavior. This plant is sensitive to stress low humidity and inconsistent care. Stable conditions minimal disturbance and a consistent routine are essential for long term success.
