Late-summer sunshine in a pot. ☀️ Rudbeckia lights up borders, balconies and patios with warm, golden-yellow petals around a dark central cone, blooming from midsummer well into autumn.
A little history
Native to the North American prairies, this cheerful daisy — often called black-eyed Susan — was named by Linnaeus after Olof Rudbeck, the Swedish botanist who was his teacher and mentor. It's a true Swedish-American classic.
Care
- Light: Full sun for the most flowers.
- Water: Water regularly until established, then it's admirably tough.
- Grooming: Deadhead to prolong the display.
- Bonus: Bees and butterflies adore it, and the seed heads feed birds in winter.
Sunshine on a stem — impossible not to smile at. 🌼
