Anthurium pterodactyl Variegata is a rare variegated cultivated Anthurium admired for its dramatic elongated foliage and bold sculptural form. Pterodactyl is a horticultural selection with no documented wild origin and is valued for its deeply lobed leaves that create a striking wing like silhouette. In the variegated form the rich green foliage is accented by irregular marbling and splashes of cream to pale yellow which highlight the leaf structure and add strong visual contrast. Each leaf develops unique patterns making every plant a true collector specimen.
Because of its selective cultivation and ornamental foliage this Anthurium performs best in controlled indoor environments where stable conditions support healthy growth and consistent variegation.
Care guide
Light
Bright indirect light. Provide strong filtered light to support healthy growth and maintain variegation. Avoid direct sunlight which can damage the lighter areas of the leaves.
High Humidity
High humidity is preferred ideally above sixty percent. Consistent humidity helps keep the foliage supple and reduces stress.
Soil
Light chunky soil mix. Use an airy and well draining aroid substrate rich in organic matter to support healthy roots.
Watering
Keep evenly moist. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or remain waterlogged.
Temperature
Keep it warm between eighteen and twenty seven degrees Celsius or sixty five to eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Fertilizer
Light regular feeding during the growing season supports steady growth. Use a balanced fertilizer at low strength.
Growth habit and additional care
Upright non climbing growth with elongated deeply lobed foliage. Variegated leaves are sensitive to stress low humidity and inconsistent care so stable conditions minimal handling and a consistent routine are essential for long term success.
