Alocasia Yucatan Princess Variegata is a rare variegated cultivated form of Alocasia Yucatan Princess, a large growing hybrid with no documented wild origin. This plant is admired for its impressive upright growth and broad elongated leaves with a deep green surface and rich dark purple undersides. In the variegated form the dramatic foliage is accented by irregular marbling and patches of cream to pale yellow creating a bold high contrast appearance. Each leaf develops unique patterns making every plant a striking collector specimen.
Because of its size potential and the sensitivity of variegation this plant performs best in controlled indoor environments where stable conditions support healthy growth and long term leaf quality.
Care guide
Light
Bright indirect light. Provide strong filtered light to maintain variegation and support vigorous growth. Avoid direct sunlight which can damage the lighter areas of the leaves.
High Humidity
High humidity is preferred ideally above sixty percent. Consistent humidity helps prevent leaf edge damage and reduces stress.
Soil
Light chunky soil mix. Use an airy and well draining aroid substrate to support strong root development and prevent excess moisture.
Watering
Keep evenly moist. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or remain waterlogged.
Temperature
Keep it warm between twenty and twenty eight degrees Celsius or sixty eight to eighty two degrees Fahrenheit. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Fertilizer
Light regular feeding during the growing season supports steady robust growth. Use a balanced fertilizer at low strength.
Growth habit and additional care
Large upright non climbing growth with broad foliage and strong stems. This plant can become sizeable over time and benefits from stable conditions consistent care and sufficient space. Variegated leaves are sensitive to stress so minimal disturbance and a regular routine are essential for long term success.
