Alocasia Regal Shield Albo is a rare variegated cultivated form of Alocasia Regal Shield, a large growing hybrid with no documented wild origin. Regal Shield is known for its impressive shield shaped leaves with a deep glossy green surface and rich burgundy to purple undersides which give the plant a bold and luxurious appearance. In the Albo form the dramatic foliage is accented by irregular marbling and patches of crisp white to creamy variegation creating a striking high contrast effect. Each leaf develops unique patterns making this plant a standout collector specimen.
Because of its size potential and the sensitivity of variegation this plant performs best in controlled indoor environments where light humidity and watering can be kept stable.
Care guide
Light
Bright indirect light. Provide strong filtered light to support vigorous growth and maintain clear variegation. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the lighter areas of the leaves.
High Humidity
High humidity is preferred ideally above sixty percent. Consistent humidity supports healthy leaf development and reduces stress.
Soil
Light chunky soil mix. Use an airy and well draining aroid substrate to support strong root growth and prevent excess moisture.
Watering
Keep evenly moist. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely or remain waterlogged.
Temperature
Keep it warm between twenty and twenty eight degrees Celsius or sixty eight to eighty two degrees Fahrenheit. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Fertilizer
Light regular feeding during the growing season supports steady robust growth. Use a balanced fertilizer at low strength.
Growth habit and additional care
Large upright non climbing growth with broad shield shaped foliage. This plant can become sizeable over time and benefits from stable conditions consistent care and sufficient space. Variegated leaves are sensitive to stress so minimal disturbance and a regular routine are essential for long term success.
