Care guide
Care guide
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some dappled morning sun. Too much direct sunlight may burn the leaves, while low light can cause leggy growth and faded colors.
Watering
Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top 2–3 cm (1 inch) to dry slightly between waterings. Use a pot with drainage to prevent root rot.
Temperature & Humidity
Thrives in warm temperatures (20–30°C / 68–86°F) and high humidity. While it can adapt to average indoor humidity, higher moisture levels will support faster growth and prevent leaf damage.
Soil
Use a rich, well-draining mix, such as a blend of coco coir or peat, perlite, and compost. The roots need both moisture retention and airflow.
Fertilizing
Feed every 4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer. Avoid overfeeding during dormancy in cooler months.
Pruning & Maintenance
Remove yellow or damaged leaves at the base. Aurea appreciates room to grow. Repot when it becomes root-bound, and rotate occasionally to encourage even growth.
Pests
Watch for common pests like spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs, especially in dry conditions. Keep foliage clean and maintain healthy humidity.
