The species is admired for its uniquely dissected foliage with long narrow finger like leaf segments that create an airy, sculptural appearance. In the variegated form the deep green foliage is accented by irregular marbling and sectors of cream to pale yellow, highlighting the intricate leaf structure and giving each leaf a one of a kind look.
