About
About
Hardier and more forgiving than many other Nepenthes.
Tolerates a range of indoor conditions, unlike more sensitive highland species.
Grows relatively fast and pitchers reliably, making it rewarding.
Specification
Specification
Produces colorful pitchers with red-green hues, used to trap insects.
Pitchers form best with high humidity and sufficient light.
Can supplement feeding with small insects like flies or crickets, but it often catches its own prey indoors or in greenhouses.
Don’t fertilize—this can harm the roots and pitchers.
Care guide
Care guide
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight. Can tolerate some morning sun but avoid harsh midday rays.
Temperature: Prefers intermediate to warm temperatures (20–30°C during the day, not below 12°C at night).
Humidity: Thrives in high humidity (60–90%). Will struggle in dry air without support.
Water: Only use rainwater, distilled, or reverse osmosis water. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged.
Soil: Use a well-draining carnivorous mix, often sphagnum moss with perlite or bark (no fertilizer!).
